The Xopus Interface
Use the items on the right to see where to find them in Xopus, and how they work.
Because Xopus's internal interface is specific to the XSL that the XML you are editing is written, this is only a manual for the toolbar.

What do you want to do?
- Change the view
The Xopus Button
To change the view press the Xopus button, and select Docview, then choose the view you want.
Views can be added in the configuration of Xopus.
The Tree view is an XML view

Start Spell CheckerThe SpellChecker Button
Pressing the Spell Checker button will, if configured properly, start loading the relevant dictionary files and when complete spellcheck the document.
Checking the spellingCorrecting The Spelling
Xopus' Spell Checker will highlight words that are mispelled. Right clicking on the word will bring up the interface for correcting the spelling.
A document needs to have language attribute. This refers to a dictionary according to which the spelling is checked.
The button to the right of each word can be used to replace all occurances of the word.
- Add a node

The Plus Menu shows several things.

The menu is split with seperators. These indicate a step in the structure of the node.

At the top is the currently focussed node and what we can add to that. In this case that would be the first item in the list.

The options after the first seperator indicates what can be added to the list itself.

Lastly there are the things that can be added to the root node, article.
The add menu shows only those things that cannot be added in another way. If bold, italic, lists and such have been configured with roles, they will not show here.

The right click menu offers some basic editing options, as well as options for the nodes that make up the current context..
Per node is shown what can be added to it, such as a header, and what can be done with the node
Lastly, if the node has attributes, the attributes editor can be opened.

This is the context menu for the Article node, the root node of the document.
For the node is shown what can be added to it, such as a header, and what can be done with the node.
Lastly, if the node has attributes, the attributes editor can be opened.

- Removing a node
Erasing, but keeping the contentsThe Erase Button
If you want to remove a node, but do not want to remove the contents, you can use the eraser.
The eraser menu shows you which nodes can be removed. In this case the item can be removed, or the list that the item is in.
The article cannot be removed, since it is required in the document, according to the schema.
These disabled options are shown to give you a clear idea about the structure that you are working in.
Deleting the nodeThe Context Menu for Item
To delete a node completely, contents and all, you need to use the context menu.
If the node can be deleted (some nodes are required by the schema), the delete button will be active, and you can use this to remove the node. Childnodes will of course also be deleted.
- Move a node
UpThe Up Button
The menu for the up button shows which items can be moved in the current context.
If the cursor is in the top list item, this item cannot be moved up. The list itself however can be moved in the structure of Article.
DownThe Down Button
The menu for the down button shows which items can be moved in the current context.
If the cursor is in the top list item, this item can be moved down. The list itself can also be moved in the structure of Article.
- Edit a table
ColumnsThe Context Menu for Table Body
Tables offer a lot of options.

You can insert columns left and right.

You can move columns, depending on the currently focussed node.

You can delete the column.

If the schema role for table header is defined, the cells in the column can be changed to header cells.
RowsThe Context Menu for Row
Rows offer a lot of options.

You can insert rows above and under.

You can move rows, depending on the currently focussed node.

You can delete the row.

If the schema role for table header is defined, the cells in the row can be changed to header cells.
CellsThe Context Menu for Cell
Cells offer a lot of options.

Here are the items that can be added to the cell.

- Edit Attributes
Attributes Editor ButtonThe Attributes Editor Button
As you can see there are only two nodes in the current context that have attributes. You can open the attributes editor from here, for those two nodes, the cell and the table.
Right Click MenuThe Body of the Table
Right Clicking on the table puts the focus on a table cell.
For each of the elements in the context of the paragraph in the cell you can see your options. From here you can open the attributes editor for the Table.
Context MenuThe Context Menu for Table
The context menu for the table shows that you can add a Caption Element to the table. This element has been defined in the schema for the Table.
At the bottom is the third way to open the attributes editor for this Element.
The Attributes EditorThe Attributes Editor
The attributes editor can show many different ways of editing an attribute. This depends on the type of the attribute in the schema.

Normal values will be validated as is indicated in the schema. In this case it has to be an integer.

Values that have been defined as enumerations will be shown in selectboxes.

Boolean values are shown as checkboxes.

If the attribute exists on the node it can be deleted.
-
If the attribute does not exist on the node, it cannot be deleted either.
