The Xopus Toolbars
The Xopus Interface has a couple of interesting buttons. They contain certain functionality that will be explained here.
Because Xopus's internal interface is specific to the XSL that the XML you are editing is written, this is only a manual for the toolbar.
The Toolbar
The toolbar is the bar at the top. It contains several interesting buttons. They are split over the following sections:
-
Standard section

This section holds the save, reload, print and the main Xopus button.
The save button is always active, but only shows as active when changes have been made to the document.
-
Structure section

This section contains the buttons to move, erase and add or replace nodes to the structure of the underlying XML.
The 'plus' button shows a list of nodes that can be added. As the list goes down you might notice seperators. These seperators indicate steps in the hierarchy. Adding nodes that are preceded by a seperator will be added higher in the hierarchy of the document than the current node.
The eraser button removes nodes, but leaves the content if that is possible. To truly delete a node, the option from the status bar is a better choice.
The move up and move down buttons indicate whether a node can be moved up or down. This is not always the case. Sometimes the structure of a document is very strict. The buttons will display a menu from which you can choose which node to move. For example: do you want to move an item in a list, or do you want to move the list in its entirety
The last button will open the attributes editor. This button will also display a menu for the nodes that have attributes.
-
Unde/Redo Section

Xopus maintains a very good history of your actions, and you can use these buttons to undo or redo an action.
-
Edit Section

Copy/Cut/Paste buttons. These buttons apply to the selection.
-
Format Section

Bold/Italic/Underline/Super and Sub script buttons. These buttons apply to the selection. They have 'roles' which can be configured in Xopus' rolemapping configuration.
-
List Section

Buttons for adding lists. They have 'roles' which can be configured in Xopus' rolemapping configuration.
-
Insert Section

Buttons for inserting links, images, flash objects and symbols (special characters). They have 'roles' which can be configured in Xopus' rolemapping configuration.
The Status bar
The status bar is the bar at the bottom, and contains an interface for all the nodes that make up the context of the currently focussed node.
![]() |
Setting the cursor in a specific place will show you where that node exists within the structure of the document. This does not indicate however which iteration of an element or structure that can exist multiple times.
Hovering over the node on the statusbar will show attention borders for the element in the document.
![]() |
Clicking each item in the path gives the user options to perform with this node, such as cut, copy, remove and select of the node. It also shows which nodes can be added to this node, and a button to open the attributes editor for this node, if the node contains attributes.
