A Google hardware event might be slated for October 5th, but don’t get too excited
With all the excitement surrounding the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, it’s understandable that the internet is abuzz with rumors of Google’s next hardware reveal. We’ve seen a lot of speculation, but yesterday CNET seemed to give us a glimpse of what Google actually planned next.
Before you get too excited, know that while an article posted by CNET’s Mike Sorrentino before quickly withdrawing it mentions the new phones, it does so only to let readers know that they are unlikely to be included in the upcoming event. .

XDA Developers was able to take screenshots of the article on their phone before it was removed. It probably happened by accident as poorly programmed automation, but luckily Mishaal Rahman looked up at exactly the right time and was able to click on CNET’s Twitter link.
Instead of being phone-centric, the event – which is explicitly scheduled for October 5, 2021 – will focus on âNest, Travel, Maps, and moreâ. While there isn’t a lot of information in the article, we can infer that updates to Google Flights and Travel (and by extension, Maps) are coming in, as well as a new speaker. Nest or something. It’s too early to tell, but whether or not it’s a full Made by Google presentation, it’s always exciting to have accidental confirmation of its existence and date.

We discussed yesterday on the Chrome Cast podcast that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro would likely be announced on October 19, 2021 based on a leaked entry form from telstra.com.au that shows a sports experience promotion. at Marvel Stadium ends at exactly that point. Dated. We’ll keep you posted over the next few weeks as the 5th approaches and see what comes out of it, but the big score – for all of you who look forward to it like us – is probably a few weeks after this Nest-focused event!
