Compassion and Chrome for Nursing Homes – SwiftCurrentOnline.com
Last week, residents of various homes and care facilities in Swift Currents were able to peek outside and see what has become an enduring tradition.
The Eliminators Car Club’s first ‘Cruisin the Care Homes’ tour of 2022 has brought smiles to many faces, care recipients and caregivers alike.
Public Relations Liaison for the Eliminators Car Club, Nathan Seibel, helped organize this event from its inception about three years ago in 2019.
“We kind of did when everything was initially on lockdown, just to get out of the house and show our support for essential workers and people locked in care homes,” Seibel recalled. “It gave us a lot of success, so we continued last year, and this year we decided to do it again.”
There were nearly 100 vehicles that showed up this year to accompany the ride. Of these cars, 10 were members of the original car club, proving that there is overwhelming support for this event in the community.
“I think it’s something that’s gaining momentum, will continue to do so for some time,” Seibel said. “This summer, we plan to do one every month.”
These plans are weather permitting. If you want to participate, Seibel says all you have to do is check when the ride is scheduled and show up on your wheels for the ride. During the latter event there was also a great charity movement, with donations to the Salvation Army of Swift Current bringing in over 80 pounds of food and $400 in cash donations.
If you want to keep up to date with the rides, when and where they will be, be sure to check out the Eliminators Car Club Facebook page.
