Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Says a Classic Chevy Was Stolen in Costa Mesa – Orange County Register
Green Day guitarist and vocalist Billie Joe Armstrong has reached out to fans on social media in hopes of finding his classic Chevy sedan, which police say was stolen over the weekend in Costa Mesa.
The musician shared photos of the 1962 Chevy II, also known as the Nova, on Saturday, February 5. It is a pearl with a brown and cheetah print interior, black and yellow license plate, chrome rims and a black leather steering wheel, as seen in his Twitter post.
“This car is near and dear to all of our hearts and has been in the [Green Day] family for over 30 years,” Armstrong wrote in his post, which had been shared by more than 1,400 Twitter users by Sunday afternoon.
The apparent theft was reported to authorities at 9 a.m. Saturday, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. said Jerry Souza. Investigators believe the classic car was taken from where it was parked on Victoria Street east of the Santa Ana River shortly after Friday afternoon. He was still missing on Sunday.
Armstrong urged anyone who might have seen his car to call Costa Mesa police at 714-754-5280.
