New Power Connector accessory makes Nest thermostats compatible with more homes
A new accessory now available for pre-order on the Google Store allows you to install Nest thermostats in homes where they would previously have been incompatible. When using the Nest Compatibility Checker, many users were disappointed to find that they couldn’t enjoy a smart thermostat in their home, but the Nest Power Connector is a game-changer.
Essentially, it’s a simple, affordable alternative to a C-wire that helps with power-related issues. Battery drain, WiFi disconnections and more can usually be fixed with wire C, but configurations found to be incompatible are because they lack it. By installing this accessory, users can bridge the gap if they have a 24 VAC system (sorry, high voltage and millivolt systems are still out of luck). It does not require any new wiring or drilling. All you’ll need to do if you choose one is attach it to your furnace, air handler, or zone controller, then connect it following the instructions provided.

According to the official store listing, the Nest Power Connector is compatible with the Nest Thermostat, the Nest Thermostat E, and the 3rd Generation Nest Learning Thermostat. My current setup is actually incompatible and I haven’t been able to use any of the above devices before. I will try the new accessory. It will only cost $ 24.99 in the US when it becomes available.
